Empowering Young Adults Through Real-World Experience

Project SEARCH is a transformative internship program designed for students in their final year of high school eligibility and young adults with mild to moderate disabilities. Established initially at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in 1996, the program has expanded nationwide, with J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital proudly becoming the first Project SEARCH site in West Virginia.

A Partnership for Success

PACE Enterprises

Coordinated and hosted by WVU Medicine, Project SEARCH is a collaborative effort supported by the West Virginia Department of Education and various community organizations. This unique partnership creates a one-year immersion experience that combines classroom instruction, career exploration, and hands-on training through worksite rotations. The program’s goal is to equip participants with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the workforce.

Experience and Explore

Participants in Project SEARCH engage in a structured and supportive environment where they rotate through different job sites within J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. This hands-on experience allows them to explore various career paths, build essential job skills, and gain valuable workplace experience, all while receiving support and guidance from dedicated instructors and job coaches.

Unlock Your Potential

Project SEARCH is more than just an internship—it’s an opportunity to unlock your potential and discover your value in the workforce. By the end of the program, participants are prepared to transition into competitive employment, with the skills and experiences that set them apart.
